well, im back!

Journal Entry: Sat Jan 12, 2008, 8:10 AM
my hiatus was over long before i thought it would be. i gave myself a solid 3 months to take a break and play video games/watch movies/not paint. i finished a bunch of PS2 games way quicker than i had thought. the games i beat were God of War, Guitar Hero 2/3, Ratchet and Clank 3, Sly Cooper 2, Rez, Katamari Damacy, Shadow of the Colossus, Resident Evil 4, Maximo Vs Army of Zin and Hot Shots Golf Fore. i would still like to play God of War 2 and i have Okami to play yet, but ill get to those some other time.

i hope you all enjoyed the pipe painting. from now on, itll mostly be all 16-bit stuff unless i get commissioned to do an 8-bit piece. so i wont be doing as many paintings as i did since 16-bit take a little longer to do.

the game i am currently painting is legend of zelda: a link to the past. some others that i will be doing down the line is chrono trigger, zombies ate my neighbors, super ghouls n ghosts, super double dragon, super mario world, battletoads in battlemaniacs and earthworm jim.

i will also be doing some slightly more original pixel pieces. they will still use the game sprites but will be put in non game situations. kinda hard to explain, youll just have to wait and see. although im not sure when i would get to it. maybe itll be done after zelda, maybe not.

yeah my gallery tends to do that. you see one game and it brings back memories. then you see another, and another, an another... before you know it you spent a half hour looking at all my paintings. haha. :)

Aloha Chris.

I came by your page to say thank you for recently adding the SM2 and Bubble Bobble File Cabinets to your favorites. To be honest, I couldn't help but get sucked into your gallery. ^__^ You have some killer work man and I hope you don't mind that I "watch" you so not to miss any new works of yours.

Thanks again for the favs, and I hope you've enjoyed your weekend so far. Take care man.

Heh, unfortunately, I'm a lot older than that! I was already an adult when the computer was coming of age. I played the original Pong as an adult and later got into Commodore computers, then Amiga and now Macs. I've also owned game consoles from the original Nintendo, to Sega to Sega CD, then PS1, PS2 and now PS3. Thanks again for the memories - even if I was already "old" when I had them. ;)

thanks man. i like how my art brings people back to a simpler time in their life. where their biggest concern was if they would run out of fruity pebbles and saturday morning cartoons reigned supreme. haha.

Very cool gallery, Chris (I was led here by [link] who had some nice things to say about your work.

Your gallery contains a stroll down memory lane (whereas harley's contains a stroll down mammary lane). :)

Nice work!

Well, I feel like some sort of demented fan being all like OH MAI GAWD, U TOTES INSPIRED ME TO FINISH THIS PIECE AND LIEK I WANTS U TO C IT!

*blush*

But anyway... I'm being a jerkface, and I thought you might like to see my horrible, horrible rendition of Mario. *dont beat me for it's obvious faults...*

For resources, for constructive critiques and for a place to show off my art.

i had some underwater shots on my computer. awhile ago i was trying to plan a huge underwater scene to paint. alas it never came to fruition.
~SquidProQuo:iconSquidProQuo: Mar 15, 2008, 5:38:24 PM
Well, they help, but not for what I want.
Thanks man, I do appreciate your help.

Clare wants to paint her laptop bag with bloopers and the little baby ones, in a water scene...
Sans Mario I just need a good background shot.

Grr, I guess I'll just have to fire up my PC...
Thanks though, those are really some good sites.

these might help, if not, id say just play the game on a emulator and screen capture whatever you wanted.

You're the first person I've thought to ask:

Where can I find decent screen shots of Mario while he's under water?
